The Collis P. Huntington Railroad Historical Society (CPH) is one of 178 National Railway Historical Societies in the United States. Founded in 1959, CPH did not become part of the NRHS until 1961. Its goals as a chapter are: "Preserve documents and artifacts of railroad history, to promote the use and improvement of the present railroad industry, to acquire and restore rolling stock for display and operations, and to generally encourage public interest in the ongoing story of the North American railroads."

KYOWVA Genealogical and Historical Society is over 35 years of service to the Tri-State region of Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. Its name stands for the three states; "KY" for Kentucky, "O" for Ohio, and "WVA" for West Virginia.
Madie Carroll House Preservation Society received permission form the Greater Huntington Parks and Recreation District in 1988 to restore the Historic Madie Carroll House built in 1810 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is used as an historic house museum and cultural community center. Restorations are underway to bring the house back to the 1855-1875 eras.
